About this Position

The Managed Services Solutions Engineer partners with clients and the Managed Services team to plan, design, and launch innovative, scalable solutions that meet client needs and strengthen their IT environments. This key role supports business growth by driving lead generation, improving win rates, and increasing client retention through collaboration with both inside and outside sales teams. Success in this position comes from proactive discovery, accurate statements of work (SOWs), assessments, support for marketing initiatives, and setting clear service expectations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end solution engineering and proposal lifecycle - including discovery, requirements gathering, solution architecture, cost modeling, implementation roadmaps, and proposal documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives, partner and alliance teams, and delivery leaders to understand client challenges, define value propositions, and align technology solutions to business objectives.
  • Own and enhance the services solution catalog for standard offerings such as Managed Services bundles, Security, Mobility, and Professional Services projects.
  • Develop reusable assets - templates, reference architectures, cost calculators, proposal frameworks, and documentation - to improve consistency and efficiency across engagements.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of vendor ecosystems, technology trends, and the competitive landscape; translate insights into differentiated, value-driven solutions.
  • Present technical solutions and proposals to senior client stakeholders and internal executives, clearly articulating business value, addressing concerns, and adapting designs as needed.
  • Analyze win/loss data and feedback from clients and delivery teams to continuously refine offerings and improve proposal success rates.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure a smooth handoff from sales to implementation and confirm that proposed solutions are practical, scalable, and deliverable.
  • Innovate how services are packaged, priced, and delivered to support growth and profitability within the mid-market segment.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support for qualified opportunities and ensure seamless transition to the PMO post-signature.
  • Contribute to product marketing efforts and participate in initiatives to drive awareness and demand for Managed Services offerings.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer or Solutions/Sales Engineer supporting Managed Services, with a focus on cloud, security, and emerging technologies.
  • Proven success designing and delivering scalable, high-availability managed IT solutions.
  • Experience developing high-level estimates and SOWs from limited requirements.
  • Strong ability to produce both functional and technical solution design deliverables for internal and client-facing audiences.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout North America.
  • Strong business acumen, including experience with cost modeling, pricing proposals, and articulating ROI or business value.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic services environment with multiple concurrent priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Managed Services business models, service catalog development, and recurring revenue structures.
  • Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and cloud vendors, and understanding of challenges faced by companies with 10–500 employees.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across sales, delivery, vendors, and client teams.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills - comfortable rolling up sleeves to lead design efforts.
  • Data-driven mindset; uses metrics such as win rates and cost models to guide improvements.
  • Passion for technology and a strong interest in staying current with industry trends and translating them into practical, competitive service offerings.

This job may require access to customer information, systems, and/or premises. As a result, this job may require customer approval for such access as an essential job function.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $95,000 to $125,000.

This position is also eligible for commissions in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.
