As a Senior Product Experience Engineer, you’ll own core parts of the web experience that powers our customer dashboard and internal freight-management systems. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and Leadership to build fast, intuitive, and beautifully crafted interfaces that redefine how freight moves for customers around the world.

What You’ll Do

• Build high-impact, production-ready features for our customer dashboard and internal freight management tools using the latest React frameworks and tools.

• Partner with Product, Design, and leadership to plan, architect, and deliver frontend initiatives end-to-end.

• Redefine what’s possible with AI-powered assistants and workflows, building experiences that complement or even replace traditional UIs.

• Own frontend architecture decisions, component patterns, performance strategies, and UI engineering best practices.

• Create rich interactions, animations, and highly polished user experiences that distinguish Mothership’s product.

• Partner with backend and fullstack teams to design well-typed, performant RPCs and APIs that power fast, reliable UI experiences.

• Push boundaries on what a modern freight shipping experience can be through first-of-their-kind product features.

• Improve frontend reliability, testing, performance, and observability as we scale our customer and carrier networks.

• Mentor other engineers, participate in code reviews, and help set engineering standards and technical direction.

• Explore and introduce new tools, frameworks, and best practices to support fast paced development.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of professional experience building production web applications.

• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development.

• Strong understanding of application state patterns (React Query, Zustand etc.).

• Experience designing and implementing performant, scalable frontend architectures.

• Ability to translate product requirements and designs into high-quality, maintainable code.

• Strong product sense with a passion for UX, UI detail, and customer impact.

• Extensive experience with frontend testing frameworks (Vitest, Playwright/Stagehand, etc.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when discussing complex technical concepts.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Next.js, Tanstack Start or other SSR frameworks.

• Familiarity with event-driven systems (Kafka) or real-time data environments.

• Prior experience in logistics, marketplace products, fintech, or other high-complexity domains.

• Open-source contributions or interest in contributing.

• SQL proficiency.
