About Middle East Institute
The Middle East Institute (MEI), founded in 1946, is the oldest Washington-based institution dedicated solely to the study of the Middle East. Our mission is to promote knowledge of the Middle East in America and strengthen understanding between the peoples and governments of the region. At MEI, we believe that understanding the region’s complexities is essential for fostering constructive dialogue and relationships.
