Finance Specialist — Excel Dataset Creation

Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a cutting-edge AI research initiative to generate high-quality Excel-based training data for financial modeling. We’re seeking experienced finance specialists with deep Excel expertise to help synthesize realistic, structurally complex spreadsheets across key financial domains. This short-term, project-based engagement offers a unique opportunity to contribute domain knowledge to frontier model development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and write detailed prompts for generating complex financial Excel models

• Review and refine AI-generated spreadsheets for structural integrity and formula accuracy

• Ensure financial logic, dynamic formulas, and input-calculation separation are correctly implemented

• Create models across topics such as 3-statement projections, DCFs, cap tables, and LBOs

• Deliver fully functional, formula-dense Excel files that meet rigorous quality standards

• You will be given access to State-of-the-Art AI Agent that help you created advanced excels!!

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in finance, investment banking, or Private Equity

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, financial modeling, and spreadsheet architecture

• Familiarity with advanced financial modeling concepts (e.g., DCF, cash flow forecasting, capital structuring)

• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to verify mathematical and structural accuracy

• Experience creating or auditing Excel models used in professional settings

More About the Opportunity

• Remote and asynchronous — contributors set their own schedule

• Expected time commitment: ~10h/week

• Project duration: 1 week (with possibility for extension)

• Target volume: 20 unique, high-complexity Excel files in 1 week.

Compensation & Contract Terms

• $70/h

• Payments issued weekly for accepted deliverables

• Independent contractor arrangement
