Accountant

Are you a qualified accountant looking to build your career in the public sector, supporting financial reporting, governance, and strategic decision-making in a complex organisation? MCS Group are delighted to be supporting AFBI in their search for a temporary Staff Officer Accountant.

The role:

• Prepare annual reports/accounts in line with HM Treasury, DoF, and IFRS
• Liaise with internal/external auditors, including NIAO
• Ensure VAT compliance and reporting
• Maintain fixed asset register and analyse financial data
• Produce monthly/quarterly management accounts
• Advise on financial interpretation, standards, and best practice
• Oversee financial operations, policies, controls, and staff management

The Person:

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• Fully qualified accountant (recognised professional body)
• Passed final professional exams
• Experience within last 5 years in Financial planning and budgeting OR financial management / management accounting OR financial accounting / auditing OR financial systems development / implementation OR strategic planning and decision support
