Job Description

As a Data Scientist at Luupli, you’ll play a core role in developing the intelligent systems that drive everything from personalized feeds to copyright protection and creator empowerment. You’ll work on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), applying statistical modeling, ML, and experimentation to tackle problems in moderation, engagement prediction, generative content ranking, and attribution.

You'll work cross-functionally with Data Engineers (pipelines & events), ML Engineers (deployment & performance), and AI Engineers (GenAI & LLM integrations), ensuring Luupli’s AI is responsible, explainable, and aligned with our mission of trust, safety, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse engagement data to uncover behaviour patterns, content trends, and creator growth signals

• Develop predictive models for content ranking, engagement scoring, posting optimisation, and creator monetisation

• Collaborate with Data Engineers to build high-quality, ML-ready datasets using GCP tools like BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub

• Train and validate supervised models for content moderation (e.g., hate speech, nudity), behaviour analysis, and creator safety

• Build fingerprinting and similarity-detection models for content attribution and IP compliance (audio, video, image, text)

• Support the development of CoreLuup, our fairness-aware, emotion-sensitive recommendation engine

• Contribute to FairLuup, a royalty-tracking system powered by ML-based content reuse scoring and payout attribution

• Prototype and evaluate engagement prediction models to power creator-facing tools like Smart Scheduler and Multi-Luup Generator

• Collaborate on LuupSearch by designing semantic search and intent detection models to improve discovery across media types

• Conduct statistical tests and A/B experiments to validate feed algorithm changes and creator tools

• Translate insights into visual dashboards and narratives using Looker, and communicate results clearly across product, design, and leadership

• Ensure your models are explainable, auditable, and ethically aligned with fairness, transparency, and inclusion goals

• Work closely with ML Engineers to transition notebooks into production-grade Vertex AI pipelines and managed model endpoints

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field

• 8+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, preferably in a cloud-native environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

• Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Pandas, scikit-learn, and experimentation frameworks

• Demonstrated expertise using Google Cloud Platform tools such as BigQuery, Vertex AI, Looker, and Dataflow (experience in other cloud platforms is welcome, but GCP is a strong plus)

• Proven ability to apply supervised and unsupervised ML to large-scale behavioral and content datasets

• Experience working with multimodal data (image, audio, video, text) for classification, search, or personalization

• Understanding of model fairness, bias mitigation, and interpretability techniques

• Familiarity with tools like BigQuery ML, Vertex AI AutoML, or their equivalents on other platforms (e.g., SageMaker, Azure ML)

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into product and design decisions

• Bonus: experience in content fingerprinting, graph-based recommendations, or emotion-aware systems
