Database & Microsoft Server Expert (m/f/d)

Join our team as a Database & Microsoft Server Expert and take ownership of complex SQL Server environments and Microsoft Server infrastructures. You will work with modern technologies, drive performance improvements, and help shape our global server architecture.

Your tasks:

• Manage, install, and configure SQL Server instances (on-premises and Azure SQL).
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (Always On, backup and restore strategies).
• Analyze and optimize queries, indexes, and database structures.
• Develop PowerShell scripts for backup, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Perform proactive monitoring using tools such as Azure Monitor, SQL Server Profiler, or Query Store.
• Monitor and improve system performance (I/O, CPU, memory) and diagnose and resolve performance issues and system crashes.
• Further develop our global Microsoft Server infrastructure, including defining upgrade processes, creating policies for Microsoft Servers, and automating server deployment.

Your skills:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later; ideally Azure SQL).
• Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance).
• Experience with other databases such as Oracle or MySQL.
• Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell; basic knowledge of C# or Python is a plus.
• Solid knowledge of performance optimization techniques, including query tuning and resource optimization.
• Ability to quickly identify and resolve complex problems and clearly explain technical concepts.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Server operating systems; strong knowledge of server hardening, Group Policies, and automation (PowerShell, Terraform, scripting).
