Why LeoLabs?

At LeoLabs, we’re building the living map of activity in space. Through our proprietary global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform, we collect millions of measurements daily on more than 24,000 objects in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our radar-powered intelligence protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government missions.
We’re not just building technology, we are redefining global security, safety, and transparency in space. As orbital activity accelerates and threats grow more complex, LeoLabs is a trusted partner for Space Domain Awareness, Space Traffic Management, and Satellite Operations for top-tier space operators and allied defense organizations.
If you're looking to work on mission-critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, national security, and AI, your impact starts here.
As a Radar Operations Engineer, you’ll play a mission-critical role at the heart of this system—monitoring next-generation radars, supporting real-time operations, and contributing to the safety and sustainability of space.
This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and wants to make a tangible impact on space infrastructure, defense, and global commercial spaceflight.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our Radar Operations Center (ROC), you will:
  • Monitor and support the LeoLabs global radar network, ensuring radar availability, high-quality sensor data, and real-time situational awareness.
  • Take restorative action when anomalies arise and escalate issues quickly and accurately.
  • Detect and respond to potential physical and cyber threats affecting radar operations.
  • Help build the future of the ROC, including designing processes, developing playbooks, defining critical monitoring points, and identifying opportunities for automation and growth.
  • Support special operational events (e.g., LEOP) and assist with remote support for maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, software, and global radar operations.
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, curious, and excited to help shape a growing operations capability in a rapidly expanding space-tech environment.

Qualifications Required

  • B.S. or M.S. in a STEM field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Experience in an operational environment such as a Network Operations Center (NOC), mission control, or similar
  • Background in incident management, with the ability to triage and escalate anomalous activity
  • Experience documenting and logging daily and off-nominal events
  • Ability to perform metric analysis and correlate data to system behavior
  • Experience creating or maintaining operations processes and procedures
  • Ability to read/understand Python scripts and work confidently in a command-line interface
  • General understanding of RF principles and modulation
  • Willingness to work a flexible and variable schedule (24/7 operations)

Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience with servers, networking, and general IT infrastructure
  • Familiarity with software development concepts
  • Experience with AWS or cloud computing
  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems
  • Experience with Agile methodologies

Within 1 Month

  • Complete onboarding and gain a deep understanding of LeoLabs’ mission, technology, and operational environment
  • Learn how the ROC fits into the broader engineering and radar organization
  • Begin monitoring radar systems and reporting anomalies with guidance

Within 3 Months

  • Confidently operate and monitor the LeoLabs radar network
  • Independently identify and document off-nominal activity

Within 6 Months

  • Become a core contributor to ROC operations
  • Collaborate with international radar operations teams
  • Create new processes and procedures to improve performance
  • Contribute to automation and software improvements for radar operations

Within 12 Months

  • Help train and mentor new ROC team members
  • Play a key role in the continued development and maturity of the Radar Operations Center

Perks and Benefits

  • Global workforce: flexible remote/hybrid opportunities
  • Work on complex, meaningful missions with real-world impact
  • Unlimited paid time off for most roles
  • Competitive salary and equity packages
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage

LeoLabs is a global leader in providing commercial Space Domain Awareness (SDA) services and low Earth orbit (LEO) mapping. Founded in 2016 as a spinout from SRI International, the company leverages a worldwide network of advanced, ground-based phased-array radars to track satellites and space debris. This network provides high-resolution data, enabling LeoLabs to offer critical services such as rapid orbit determination, early operational support for new launches, and ongoing conjunction awareness to prevent collisions in space. The company's mission is to safeguard operations in LEO, making space safer and more sustainable for commercial satellite operators, government regulatory bodies, and space agencies globally.

LeoLabs' technology stack, known as LeoLabs Vertex™, is the world's first vertically integrated commercial space operations platform. It combines data from its proliferated radar network with sophisticated AI-powered analytics to deliver persistent orbital intelligence. This allows military space commands, civil government agencies, and commercial operators to confidently detect, track, characterize, and respond to threats and hazards in space. The company is committed to building a living map of activity in orbit, supporting secure, safe, and dynamic space operations. LeoLabs has a global presence with offices and team members worldwide to support its expanding radar network and international customer base, which includes the U.S. Department of Defense and space agencies of numerous allied nations. The company continues to innovate and expand its capabilities, addressing the increasing congestion and contention in LEO.
