Key Responsibilities:
- Securing necessary land rights and coordinating with internal and/or external stakeholders to facilitate successful completion of land acquisition programs for Hydro One’s development.
- Grant, renew, and manage existing rights (licenses, leases, easements) for company properties, addressing customer inquiries.
- Evaluate transmission/distribution project proposals, determining real estate requirements, and prepare detailed project reports, including cost estimates and land use assessments.
- Analyze market sales data, prepare appraisals, market value estimates, and real estate reports. Conduct reviews to identify work programs and project requirements.
- Attend public meetings, establish and maintain relationships with clients, legal representatives, and stakeholders. Explain agreements and address inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, governmental, and company requirements. Secure approval for transaction settlement terms and prepare necessary documentation.
- Stay informed about real estate industry trends, providing expert advice to internal and external clients. Meet business goals, timetables, and delivery dates for real estate activities.
- Coordinate with internal and external representatives, facilitating data exchange and communication between Real Estate, clients, stakeholders, and other relevant groups. Address complex real estate issues with effective problem-solving and seek guidance when needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the real estate industry, involving transactions, market valuation, legal documents, real estate practices, and procedures. Familiarity with valuing and acquiring fee, easement, or other real estate interests, granting rights, selling properties, and interpreting plans and surveys.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in managing acquisitions of large right-of-way and/or utility-scale projects
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting various variables related to real estate, demonstrating sound judgment and the ability to develop effective and balanced solutions for clients and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, enabling effective communication.
- Thorough understanding of legislative, governmental, and Company operational requirements related to real estate acquisition, management, and disposal activities.
- Demonstrated ability to address complex real estate issues and apply critical thinking to develop timely and effective solutions.
- Meticulous attention to detail, and a keen ability to detect and rectify errors promptly to maintain credibility and compliance.
- Willingness to work both in a business office environment and in the field.
