About the Position
The Senior Manager of Transportation Compliance and Claims is responsible for the day-to-day management of activities and associates involved with the qualifications, compliance and claims involving third-party motor carriers. The position will provide judgement and functional leadership to meet, maintain and advance internal and external deliverables. The position will also directly facilitate the resolution of carrier compliance and cargo matters arising out of Kenco Transportation Management, LLC’s operation as a freight broker in addition to oversight of associate(s) handling compliance and cargo claim issues. This position will support the Kenco Brokerage, Transportation Management, and Carrier Development teams. This position within Risk Management will also interact with various functional groups
Functions
Oversee and manage personnel responsible for cargo claim and carrier compliance functions.
Develop goals and/or metrics for the Compliance and Claims team and monitor the achievement of such goals and/or metrics.
Facilitate issue resolution between internal associates and external parties. Take ownership of and resolve escalated claims and compliance concerns, elevating issues within Risk Management as necessary and/or beneficial.
Manage and enforce the carrier qualification process including but not limited to onboarding new carriers, initiating carrier qualifications review, and implementing prescribed measures.
Monitor, track, and report carrier performance metrics and other specified standards.
Obtain and maintain knowledge and understanding of specific customer requirements to comply with contractual obligations and standards.
Develop, document, implement, improve, and communicate program specific policies, processes, and procedures to internal and external stakeholders to maximize compliance and claim handling activities.
As applicable, develop and document contingency plans and strategic initiatives to allow for potential and/or actual changes in operating conditions.
Receive, process, and manage all assigned/maintained cargo claims in a timely manner.
Drive claims toward judicious resolution through effective and timely communication with all relevant parties during a claim’s lifecycle.
Keep current on transportation and cargo laws, best practices, and trends.
Develop collaborative relationships with internal staff and external customer decision-makers.
Support leadership by accepting added duties and/or responsibilities as needed.
Serve as a primary point of contact for questions on operations’ best practices, broker and carrier liability, and all overage, shortage, and damage issues. Elevate issues within Risk Management as necessary and/or beneficial.
Participate in general and industry training.
Complete and manage ad hoc tasks as required.
Other applicable duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in risk management/insurance, transportation/logistics, or related field required.
6-8 years of experience in compliance, claims, and/ or audit required.
3+ years of supervisory experience required.
Transportation industry experience required.
Proven ability to provide support to managed personnel (hiring, work review and feedback, coaching, terminations, culture alignment activities, etc.)
Technical aptitude and familiarity with the utilization of complex databases and systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
Experience managing multiple priorities and escalations with tight timelines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Experience leading risk assessments and defining audit roadmaps.
Ability to drive successful partnerships with external teams to execute tactical initiatives.

This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less
