We have locations in five counties, Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland, Macomb and Genesee, providing compassionate and comprehensive services to thousands of children, adults, and families annually.Post Adoption Resource Centers (PARCs) assist adoptive and guardianship families. Services include adoption-sensitive case management, information and referrals to community services, phone assistance for families with questions, support groups, and training and conferences for families.Job SummaryThe PARC Family Worker provides support to families in need of general assistance and those requiring more intensive services to maintain family stability and preserve adoptions. The worker also completes assessments, identifies community resources and service providers, and completes required documentation.This position primarily serves families on the east side of our contracted service area, including the following counties: Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, and Monroe. Depending on program needs, the worker may need to assist families in our western counties at times as well: Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Eaton, Kalamazoo, and St. Joseph. Mileage reimbursement and a monthly cell phone reimbursement are provided.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesAnswer questions and address families' needs.Maintain regular contact with families, including home visits for select cases.Provide interventions for families in crisis or at risk of disruption.Refer adoptive families to community resources.Provide educational and other materials in response to families' requests.Complete documentation and reporting.Participate in required training.Attend all scheduled team meetings.Perform other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsExperience working with adoptive and foster parents is highly preferred.Experience providing in-home services and/or working directly with children and families in various settings, including child welfare, schools, juvenile justice, and mental health preferred.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work preferred.Understanding of basic needs and social, cultural, and religious differences in families is required.Ability to provide culturally competent services that show sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.Education, Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsA bachelor's degree in the field of human services.Valid Michigan Driver's License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.Working ConditionsRemote position, working from home office with required weekly supervision and meetings in Ann Arbor and visits to family's homes.Works in an office environment and in the community.Possible stressful environment working with families and court system.Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation, events, and trainings, etc.Fast paced, enthusiastic and team oriented workplace.No phone calls please.
