Yocto/Linux Platform Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Yocto/Linux Platform Engineer in the European Union.

The Yocto/Linux Platform Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the embedded Linux platform that powers next-generation devices. You will work across kernel, bootloader, and userland development, ensuring a stable, secure, and high-performance environment for wireless connectivity and digital signage products. This role involves close collaboration with hardware and software teams, contributing to architecture discussions, and providing guidance to junior engineers. You will help deliver scalable device platforms, troubleshoot complex Linux system issues, and participate in bringing up new devices. The position supports hybrid work, offering flexibility, professional growth, and ownership over your projects.

Accountabilities:

• Build and maintain embedded Linux platforms, including Board Support Packages, kernel, bootloader, and userland components.
• Write and maintain Yocto recipes, supporting Linux system builds and updates.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help scope projects for timely delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members through onboarding, code reviews, and training.
• Debug and troubleshoot Linux systems, network stacks, and device drivers.
• Collaborate closely with hardware and application teams to ensure platform stability and integration.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in embedded/BSP Linux development.
• Strong experience with Yocto Project / OpenEmbedded, Linux kernel, and userland development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming; experience with Python is a plus.
• Experience with UEFI firmware, bootloaders, and hardware integration.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth stacks.
• Familiarity with electronics and hardware design principles.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex Linux systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
