This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Technical Leader and Manager, Platform & Data (TakeUp) in United States.
As a Technical Leader and Manager, you will oversee and drive the development of core platform and data systems that power a high-impact SaaS product. You will lead a team of engineers while remaining hands-on in building scalable, reliable, and observable infrastructure. This role balances strategic vision with day-to-day execution, ensuring platform reliability, data quality, and performance. You will collaborate closely with Product, ML, and Customer Success teams, as well as external integration partners, to deliver resilient, cost-efficient solutions. The environment is remote, dynamic, and fast-paced, offering the opportunity to influence architecture, set engineering standards, and shape the team culture.
Accountabilities
- Own the architecture and reliability of core services and end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, storage, serving, and observability.
- Define and enforce engineering standards across platform and data systems, including CI/CD, code quality, documentation, and reproducibility.
- Set and maintain SLOs for system reliability, latency, and data freshness, implementing guardrails and automated quality checks.
- Translate product and roadmap goals into scoped engineering work with clear acceptance criteria, success metrics, and rollout plans.
- Build and operate observability stacks (logs, metrics, tracing, data quality monitors) with actionable alerts.
- Partner with external integrations, ensuring resilient interfaces and backfills for third-party systems.
- Lead, mentor, and manage engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and development plans.
- Maintain current architecture diagrams, runbooks, documentation, and data lineage while fostering a “docs-as-code” culture.
- Communicate progress, risks, and strategic decisions to leadership and broader stakeholders through regular updates and demos.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building and operating production platforms and data systems in B2B SaaS, with at least 2 years leading engineering teams.
- Strong technical depth in Python, SQL, orchestration frameworks (Prefect, Airflow), ELT tools (dbt), cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery), event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis), containerization (Docker, ECS/Kubernetes), and infra-as-code (Terraform).
- Proven experience setting engineering standards (CI/CD, code review, testing strategy) and delivering reliable, observable systems at reasonable cost.
- Skilled at defining and meeting SLOs, incident management, and continuous improvement processes.
- Comfortable designing and managing third-party integrations with resilience to schema drift and backfills.
- Excellent communication skills: able to simplify complexity, make trade-offs explicit, and align cross-functional teams.
- Start-up mindset: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Nice-to-have: domain knowledge in pricing, demand modeling, or hospitality; prior start-up experience.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation with salary and performance-based incentives.
- Flexible remote work with opportunities for in-person collaboration and travel as needed.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage, with wellness programs.
- Professional development support, including mentorship and learning budgets.
- Generous leave policies for vacation, sick time, and parental/family care.
- Opportunity to shape team culture and engineering standards in a mission-driven SaaS company.
