This role offers a unique opportunity to develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation for complex systems and technologies in a dynamic, mission-critical environment. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and converting Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), ensuring content is accurate, clear, and adheres to military and government standards. The position requires strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and trainers, to ensure documentation meets end-user and operational needs. This remote role involves occasional travel and offers the chance to influence technical content used by diverse audiences. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of producing structured, precise, and standards-compliant documentation.
Accountabilities
- Author, interpret, and maintain technical documentation in accordance with Statements of Work (SOW), System Requirement Documents (SRD), and Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRM).
- Develop content that can be transferred into training materials, manuals, or web-based guides for technical and non-technical users.
- Plan, design, implement, and maintain computer-based or web-based training modules as needed.
- Edit, review, and update content for style, clarity, readability, and adherence to established standards.
- Participate in Technical Manual In-Process Reviews (IPRs), validations, and verifications.
- Record, track, and resolve technical corrective actions (CRM).
- Draft and update sections of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) copy.
- Ensure accuracy of all content within SGML or XML environments and perform live updates during verification events.
Requirements
- US Citizen with eligibility to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Journalism, English, or a related field, with 8+ years of experience, or 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience using Arbortext, XML, and technical writing tools.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-45001-1, MIL-HDBK-1222, MIL-STD-3031/ASD, MIL-PRF-63002/63033, DA PAM 25-40, MIL-STD-40051-1D, and TRADOC Regulation 350-70.
- Experience creating and converting ETMs and IETMs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Active Government security clearance of at least Secret level.
