Software Engineer - AWS Savings Plans Optimization

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to lead the development of a cutting-edge AWS Savings Plans optimization engine. In this role, you will design and implement algorithms for cloud cost optimization, risk assessment, and commitment strategies while managing real-time data pipelines and automated decision engines. You will have a direct impact on large-scale cloud cost efficiency, working in a fast-paced, AI-driven engineering environment that values autonomy, ownership, and rapid iteration. Accountabilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the Savings Plans optimization engine powering automated cloud cost reduction.
• Develop algorithms for commitment strategies, utilization forecasting, and financial risk management.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines to process AWS billing and usage data in real time.
• Create automated decision engines for Reserved Instance and Savings Plans management.
• Design monitoring and anomaly detection systems to ensure consistent and profitable outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with a small, AI-native engineering team to ship fast and iterate continuously.
• Take end-to-end ownership of solutions, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in AWS Savings Plans: Compute & EC2 Instance Savings Plans, term optimization, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of AWS billing systems: Cost Explorer API, Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), Billing APIs, CloudWatch cost metrics.
• Advanced cost modeling and forecasting skills: usage pattern analysis, break-even calculations, and discount rate optimization.
• Experience optimizing Reserved Instances, including marketplace operations, instance flexibility, and modifications/exchanges.
• Solid background in financial risk assessment for cloud spend and portfolio balancing.
• Proven hands-on experience (3+ years) in cloud cost optimization or related domains with direct Savings Plans ownership.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, autonomous teams with high ownership and rapid feedback loops.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and programming skills in relevant cloud and data tools.
