This role offers a senior-level opportunity to drive the design, development, and scaling of critical software systems across both product and data domains. You will take technical ownership of complex initiatives, from backend systems and APIs to full-stack applications and data pipelines. Accountabilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable GraphQL and REST APIs, as well as backend services supporting internal and external users.
- Lead full-stack development projects, overseeing feature implementation across applications and data workflows.
- Develop and optimize ETL processes and data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
- Build or integrate internal tools to support data stewardship, quality assurance, and operational workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Data stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and best practices across multiple teams.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Promote code quality, automated testing, and documentation standards across projects.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer with expertise in full-stack and backend development.
- Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern web development frameworks.
- Proven experience designing and scaling APIs (GraphQL and REST) in production environments.
- Solid experience in data modeling and database design, ideally with PostgreSQL.
- Comfortable developing and supporting production-grade ETL/data pipelines using Node.js, Python, SQL, or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD workflows.
- Understanding of software architecture principles, TDD, and automated testing frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to navigate ambiguity and drive technical initiatives from concept to delivery.
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders and mentor engineering teams.
- Experience in fast-paced startup or scaling environments; prior exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data is a plus.
- Bonus skills: experience with admin/internal platforms, data observability, machine learning pipelines, BI tools, or mobile frameworks (React Native, Capacitor).
