This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend in the United States.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to build and scale high-impact backend systems on AWS, directly shaping how millions of users interact with real-time applications. The position allows you to own projects end-to-end, work closely with architecture leadership, and influence infrastructure and performance decisions. You will tackle complex technical challenges, optimize scalability, and contribute to critical architectural decisions, all while collaborating with a passionate, data-driven product team. Accountabilities
- Own assigned backend projects from design through deployment and maintenance.
- Collaborate with architecture leadership to design, optimize, and scale AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, ECS, S3, IAM, etc.).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitor system health, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Contribute to architectural decisions across the stack, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
- Write clean, tested, and maintainable code, and review code written by peers to enforce best practices.
- Identify areas for system improvement, proactively addressing technical challenges and bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a Backend / Infrastructure Software Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL).
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, ECS, S3, IAM, etc.) or Google Cloud in commercial settings.
- Comfortable with CI/CD workflows, Linux environments, and software architecture principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills, tenacity, and the ability to work independently on complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: experience with distributed systems, performance tuning for high-volume traffic, and Apache Spark.
