This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Institutional - Foundations, Settlements & Transfers) in United States.
This role is central to building and maintaining the core financial infrastructure of a leading institutional crypto platform. You will design and implement scalable, low-latency backend systems that handle high-volume transactions across multiple asset classes, ensuring secure and reliable settlement processes. Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and design teams, you will help translate complex technical and business requirements into robust services. The position combines hands-on software development with mentorship and technical leadership responsibilities, contributing to both immediate delivery goals and long-term system architecture. You will work in a fast-paced, highly technical environment that values innovation, rigorous problem-solving, and collaboration, with periodic in-person participation for team alignment and offsite events.
Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain backend services supporting institutional settlements, transfers, and custody operations.
- Develop scalable, high-performance, low-latency systems using Java, Golang, and RDS Postgres.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers to implement features aligned with product and business objectives.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code and maintain production services and database infrastructure.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, guiding architectural decisions and best practices.
- Optimize service performance and reliability while contributing to long-term technical strategy and system design.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience building and maintaining production-grade services.
- Proven experience designing, scaling, and operating critical low-latency backend systems and service-oriented architectures.
- Strong knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases such as Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB, including performance optimization.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, modern backend technologies, and distributed systems.
- Passion for building secure and efficient financial systems, particularly in fintech or crypto environments.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence peers and stakeholders.
- Nice to have: experience with Golang or Ruby, familiarity with on-chain activities (Ethereum addresses, dApps), knowledge of financial systems or settlement cycles, and experience in high-growth tech environments.
