This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Software Engineer in the United States.
The Senior DevOps Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying secure and scalable software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. You will be responsible for automating CI/CD pipelines, managing software configuration, and supporting distributed development teams in a cloud and containerized environment. This role requires hands-on expertise in Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Kubernetes, Docker, and various DevOps tools, along with experience in automated testing and deployment processes. You will collaborate closely with geographically distributed teams, ensure reliability and security across systems, and provide technical leadership and guidance. The position combines advanced technical responsibilities with leadership in configuration management, quality assurance, and DevOps best practices, contributing directly to the efficiency and security of complex software environments.
Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain automated CI/CD build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
- Lead software configuration management (SCM), including release planning, version control, and supporting distributed development networks.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and training on SCM and DevOps best practices to software engineers.
- Design, develop, document, test, and deploy software in Python, Java, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and related tools.
- Assist in deploying, configuring, and maintaining Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and system issues while proactively mitigating technical risks.
- Collaborate within an Agile team environment, attending scrums, demonstrating working software, and ensuring project objectives are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and 8–12 years of professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of Git, Bitbucket, and software development workflows.
- Experience with UNIX command line environments.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools: Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker.
- Experience with software development in Python, JavaScript, Java, and SQL.
- SCM experience including release planning, branch management, and automated build processes.
- Proficiency in automated testing tools and processes (Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit).
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with virtual and remote teams.
- Agile software development experience.
- Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD IAT II) within 60 days of start, and Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to work remotely but live within commuting distance to Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD.
