Senior Blockchain Architect (Remote - EMEA)

This role provides a unique opportunity to shape the architecture and technical strategy of advanced blockchain solutions, with a focus on Bitcoin and EVM-compatible ecosystems. You will guide development squads, evaluate complex systems, and ensure scalability, security, and decentralization across projects. The position combines hands-on architectural design with strategic oversight, allowing you to influence the adoption of emerging technologies while collaborating with a global, fully remote team. Accountabilities

• Architect blockchain solutions leveraging the company’s products and ecosystem capabilities.
• Assess, improve, and validate existing or in-progress system architectures for security, scalability, and decentralization.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing guidance to development squads to ensure alignment with architectural principles.
• Conduct research on emerging blockchain technologies and propose relevant enhancements to systems.
• Inform stakeholders about technical risks, trade-offs, and their potential business impact.
• Provide regular updates on product development, costs, budgets, and architectural decisions.
• Review and contribute to codebases when necessary, ensuring best practices in smart contract development, gas optimization, and security.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the Web3 space, with recent focus on blockchain architecture.
• 4+ years hands-on experience with Solidity, including deep understanding of EVM opcodes.
• Proficient in Java, with experience analyzing complex codebases and contributing code when required.
• Additional knowledge of Rust and JavaScript is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Bitcoin: consensus rules, p2p networking, transaction formats, UTXO model, Bitcoin Script, and layer-2 solutions including Lightning Network.
• Expertise in applied cryptography: ECDSA, Schnorr signatures, hash functions, Merkle trees, multisig, and threshold schemes.
• Experience designing secure protocols and auditing smart contracts for vulnerabilities.
• Familiarity with consensus algorithms (Nakamoto, PBFT, Gasper) and Sybil control mechanisms (PoW, PoS, dPoS).
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to assess technical decisions in terms of business impact.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, global, fully remote team.
• BSc/BA in Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
