Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js) (Remote - Latam)

This role offers a unique opportunity to design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs for a cutting-edge cloud platform. You will be instrumental in shaping the architecture, scaling systems for performance and reliability, and driving technical decisions across the backend stack. Collaborating closely with product managers and distributed teams, you will translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions. This is a high-impact position where your work will influence system scalability, CI/CD processes, and cloud integrations while mentoring other engineers. Remote-first flexibility allows you to deliver results from anywhere in Latin America while being part of a globally distributed engineering team.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL) using Node.js.
• Collaborate with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and integrate cloud-native services.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, stability, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Participate in architecture decisions, technology selection, and ongoing system improvements.
• Mentor backend engineers and promote best practices across the team.
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with product managers and stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues to ensure high system reliability and uptime.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience, preferably with Node.js.
• Strong expertise in system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience with microservices, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience optimizing backend performance and working with SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience in technical leadership or mentoring team members is a plus.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Comfortable working remotely with distributed, international teams (LATAM preferred).
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and cloud-native deployments.
