The Principal Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and integrating advanced software solutions in a high-stakes technical environment. This role involves full-stack and cloud development, supporting both internal teams and external clients, with a focus on RF, cybersecurity, and electronic warfare systems. The engineer will lead and mentor junior developers, contribute to research and prototyping, and ensure seamless integration of proprietary and COTS software components. The position requires adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and participation in lab experiments and field testing are integral. The engineer will also support proposal development, technical documentation, and client engagements, ensuring projects meet both operational and strategic goals.
Accountabilities:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of junior software developers.
- Design, develop, and integrate core software applications across multiple technical domains.
- Support full product lifecycle from concept through deployment and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to research, prototyping, and testing in areas such as software-defined radios, spectrum operations, and electronic warfare.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RF, cybersecurity, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
- Document technical findings and support proposal development and client engagements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies such as AI/ML, quantum sensing, and autonomous systems, recommending their application where appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience (5+ years in software development).
- Proficiency in Python, C#, Rust, and familiarity with multiple programming languages.
- Strong foundation in networking, system troubleshooting, Linux services, and cloud development/deployment.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, database/query languages, and full development lifecycle.
- Expertise in one or more areas: RF systems design, electronic warfare, cybersecurity, AI/ML, or software-defined radios.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage R&D efforts, and solve complex technical challenges.
- US citizenship and eligibility for Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% and work in a hybrid environment.
