This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Member of Technical Staff, Direct Custody (Backend Engineer) in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to join a pioneering digital asset team focused on building secure, scalable, and user-friendly blockchain infrastructure for institutional clients. The position emphasizes designing and implementing backend systems that enable seamless custody, transfer, staking, and governance of crypto assets. You will work on end-to-end product ownership, collaborating closely with frontend, iOS, and engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role that directly influences product architecture, scalability, and the overall user experience. Ideal candidates are self-driven, thrive in high-complexity environments, and are passionate about distributed systems, cryptography, and the evolving digital asset ecosystem.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain backend systems for digital asset custody, staking, smart contract interactions, and NFT management.
- Implement scalable abstractions and services that operate across multiple blockchain networks.
- Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions, shaping product direction and technical strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and product teams to deliver robust, secure solutions.
- Ensure high code quality, implement deterministic testing, and minimize technical debt.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues, including deep dives into open-source projects and low-level system components.
- Mentor and support team members, contributing to a culture of learning, innovation, and impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience building complex distributed systems; expertise in Go is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of concurrency, algorithms, data structures, and backend software principles.
- Experience designing resilient services capable of handling varying workloads with minimal manual intervention.
- Skilled in code quality, testing, and infrastructure best practices.
- Collaborative mindset, with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing technical innovation with user and business needs.
- US work authorization is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applied cryptography experience or deep interest in cryptography principles.
- Familiarity with blockchain protocols, token standards, or cryptoasset ecosystems.
- Finance industry or institutional digital asset experience.
