Head of Engineering (remote fixed contract)

We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Head of Engineering to lead and grow a dynamic team focused on application development and data systems. In this role, you will drive technical strategy, oversee system architecture, and ensure the delivery of innovative, scalable solutions that meet the evolving demands of the media and entertainment industry. This hands-on leadership position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentorship of engineers, and the establishment of engineering best practices. The role is fully remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York.

Accountabilities

The Head of Engineering will:

• Lead, mentor, and scale engineering teams to deliver high-quality and reliable applications.
• Own the technical architecture and development of key applications and data systems.
• Collaborate with product, data, and business stakeholders to align technology with strategic goals.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and excellence.
• Provide technical vision and guidance for both short-term projects and long-term scaling initiatives.
• Drive execution of complex software and data initiatives while ensuring operational efficiency and performance.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including significant leadership roles in media, advertising, or entertainment.
• Proven success in leading engineering organizations and delivering complex, high-impact applications.
• Strong expertise in application development, data systems, and system architecture.
• Track record of developing technical strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence executives and cross-functional teams.
• U.S.-based, with a preference for candidates located in New York.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in building and scaling distributed teams.
• Hands-on experience with modern software development practices and technologies relevant to media and data systems.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and operational excellence in a remote or hybrid environment.
