This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Database Engineer III in the United States.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining high-performance databases that power critical enterprise applications within an agile engineering environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional development teams to ensure data integrity, scalability, and reliability across systems. This position requires a strong command of SQL Server, hands-on experience in performance tuning, and a proactive approach to automation and best practices. You will play a key role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of data-driven applications that support business operations.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate closely with agile development teams to design and maintain efficient database solutions that meet performance and scalability goals.
- Build and manage SQL Server databases, schemas, stored procedures, and triggers to support core business applications.
- Optimize query execution, indexing, and database structures to enhance system responsiveness and reliability.
- Review and refine developer-created queries to ensure alignment with best practices and business needs.
- Partner with QA teams to create accurate test data sets and support data-driven testing and automation efforts.
- Participate in periodic on-call rotations to monitor production releases and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring database integrity.
- Document and standardize database configurations, performance metrics, and optimization techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in database engineering.
- Expertise in SQL and Microsoft SQL Server with a solid understanding of database architecture and performance optimization.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining database solutions within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across teams.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a focus on delivering scalable, high-impact database solutions.
- Preferred experience with Git, Flyway (or similar tools), PowerShell scripting, Azure Cosmos DB, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with database performance monitoring tools such as DataDog, SQL Sentry, or Query Store.
