This remote role offers an opportunity for experienced medical coders to apply their expertise in critical care and pulmonary coding within a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will accurately translate medical records into appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, ensuring compliance with coding standards while supporting revenue cycle operations. You will work closely with clinical and billing teams, maintaining high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. This position is best suited for professionals who thrive in a remote setup on CST/EST time zones and who are committed to continuous learning and excellence in medical coding.
Accountabilities:
- Accurately code medical records for critical care and pulmonary procedures, applying ICD-10-CM, CPT, and relevant coding conventions.
- Review operative reports and physician documentation to ensure precise code assignment and maximize charge capture.
- Maintain compliance with coding standards, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies.
- Act as a liaison between clinical and billing teams, responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of coded clinical data for reimbursement, statistical, and indexing purposes.
- Meet established productivity and proficiency benchmarks while participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
- Uphold confidentiality and provide excellent customer service in all interactions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 yearsโ experience in production coding in a surgical setting or physician practice; outpatient professional fee revenue cycle experience preferred.
- Active CPC or CCS-P certification required.
- Demonstrated experience with Critical Care and Pulmonary coding.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and applicable coding standards and guidelines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across clinical and billing teams.
- Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to confidentiality requirements.
- Must reside in CST or EST time zones and have personal equipment to perform remote work.
