This role is ideal for a detail-oriented software professional with a strong background in automated testing and quality assurance. The Automated Test Engineer will design, develop, and maintain test scripts to ensure high-quality software releases, supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers and Scrum teams, to enhance test coverage, detect defects early, and improve overall software reliability. Candidates will work in a structured, mission-driven environment where security, performance, and compliance are top priorities. Strong scripting skills, knowledge of test automation frameworks, and familiarity with Agile processes are key to success in this role.
Accountabilities
As an Automated Test Engineer, you will:
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for functional, performance, and security testing.
- Convert manual test scripts to automated scripts within established timeframes.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using approved tools such as Checkmarx, ACAS, CAST, or Jenkins.
- Perform regression, performance, and interoperability testing before software releases.
- Maintain traceability of all tests to requirements and keep test artifacts under configuration control.
- Collaborate with Scrum teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
- Support third-party verification and provide performance testing scripts as required.
- Participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and backlog refinement related to testing outcomes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Active Secret clearance required.
- IAT-II certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of software quality assurance experience, including 2+ years in automated testing.
- Proficiency with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements and secure coding standards.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in distributed teams.
