Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum 12-months commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

This is a pro-bono Unpaid position.

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

The Director of Human Capital (HUCA) provides direction to the HR teams and partners with the Board of Directors Advisory Committee on Human Capital. The incumbent manages the planning, organizing and directing of human resources activities in support of the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development of HR operations/processes to support recruiting professionals for volunteer opportunities, recruiting for internships
  • Support the College Engagement team in the recruiting of Program Instructors from colleges/universities for Outreach Programs
  • Provide direction for the continuous improvement of HR functions: Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and Talent Management.
  • Provide direction for the planning and direction of training and development approaches to enhance the volunteer experience and engagement
  • Advise organization leadership on human resources issues and develop and implement effective HR policies and processes across the organization
  • Actively build the capabilities of the HR team through proactive planning, coaching and recruitment of volunteer team members
  • Provide Human Resources expertise and guidance to department managers on HR policies and practices
  • Serve as a liaison between the HR team and the rest of the organization
  • Flexible hours, 6 hours/week, 12 months minimum commitment
  • Responsible for the budget of the HUCA department
  • Maintains relationship with External Vendors: iCIMS, Enboarder,Pingboard, Vyond amongst others.

Qualifications

  • Passion about JerseySTME’s mission.
  • Technology Savvy, Data Driven Mindset. Familiar with People Analytics
  • Strong (5-7 years), broad Human Resources experience with emphasis on recruiting and onboarding
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfort managing a virtual HR team
  • Resourceful and creative
  • Time commitment (6hrs/week)

    • Bi-Weekly Department meeting (30mn/bi-weekly)
    • 1:1 weekly 30mn meeting with Direct reports- (Team Leads (1:30h/week)
    • 1 Monthly Meeting with Advisory Committee (1hr/month)
    • Additional calls with partner
