The Senior Azure Engineer will be a key technical leader responsible for the architecture, implementation, and management of our Azure cloud environment. This role has a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) principles, automation, and the strategic implementation of cost controls. You will be instrumental in ensuring our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, highly available, and financially optimized to support our global business objectives.
Azure IaaS Architecture & Implementation:
Cost Management & Optimization (FinOps):
Develop and enforce cloud cost governance policies, including comprehensive resource tagging strategies, budget alerting, and access controls.
Utilize Azure Cost Management + Billing tools to analyze spending patterns, identify inefficiencies, and provide actionable recommendations for cost reduction.
Lead initiatives to right-size virtual machines, optimize storage tiers, and leverage Azure Hybrid Benefit, Reserved Instances, and Savings Plans.
Collaborate with finance and application teams to foster a culture of cost-consciousness and report on cloud spending against budgets.
Automate operational tasks, configuration management, and deployment processes using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Implement and monitor security controls in collaboration with the cybersecurity team, utilizing Azure Security Center, Azure Policy, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
Serve as a technical escalation point for complex Azure-related issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution.
Mentor junior engineers and share best practices across the organization.
Create and maintain thorough documentation for all cloud environments and processes.
5+ years of hands-on experience in designing and administering Microsoft Azure environments.
Deep understanding of core Azure IaaS services (Compute, Networking, Storage, and Security).
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong preference for Terraform.
Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Azure CLI.
Solid understanding of Azure identity and access management, including Azure Active Directory (Entra ID).
Experience with Azure monitoring and logging solutions (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
Cost Control: Demonstrable experience in implementing and managing Azure cost optimization strategies.
Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international team environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Azure Certifications such as AZ-305: Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions or AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service - AKS).
Experience working with globally distributed teams and infrastructure.
