The Team
The team is responsible for our core data streaming pipelines. We handle the ingestion, processing, and storage of high-volume, multimodal data types. Our work involves complex data enrichments and the integration of cutting-edge technologies to ensure our intelligence platform is robust, scalable, and innovative.
The Role: Senior Software Engineer
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving complex builds from inception to completion. You will leverage your extensive experience to design, implement, and optimise end-to-end data solutions, ensuring the performance and reliability of our mission-critical data pipelines.
What You'll Be Doing (Primary Responsibilities)
Coding & Development: Implementing robust solutions, primarily using Python (experience with Java/Node is a bonus). This includes low-latency, high-volume data processing and text processing techniques (e.g., tokenisation, lemmatisation).
Technical Leadership: Drive complex builds and possess the ability to analyse and solve intricate technical problems within the data ecosystem.
Specialisation: Focus on specific areas within data processing and modelling, acquiring deep industry knowledge.
Cloud Experience (AWS): Utilise your experience in discovering and evaluating new AWS services and approaches to continuously improve our platform.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Architect and stakeholders, actively share knowledge with the technical team, and lead small, focused projects.
Automation & DevOps: Be familiar with automated pipelines, covering build, testing, source control, and Infrastructure as Code.
Innovation: Stay current with the latest technology trends, including utilising AI coding assistants to design solutions and leveraging code repository tools to automate build pipelines and ensure code quality.
The Person
Technical Depth: Proven ability to design and implement end-to-end solutions that successfully solve complex business problems with expert proficiency in Python.
Data Processing: Deep experience with stream and batch models, low-latency, high-volume processing, and text processing techniques.
Data Storage: Experience designing and implementing relational models using SQL (including indexing and optimising execution plans), as well as experience utilising blob and NoSQL storage types.
Integration: Experience writing and deploying Microservices and implementing data pipelines using message brokers (e.g., Kafka, SQS).
Automation: Demonstrated ability to implement complete automated pipelines (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).
Cloud (AWS): Strong experience with AWS, including provisioning by code and evaluation of new services.

The Environment
Location: Remote teams based in the Philippines, working closely with the head office in Australia.

Team Structure: You will be a key member of a 4-engineer team, reporting to a Software Lead and collaborating with a mix of Software I and Software II engineers.
