Instrumentl

Employee count: 1-10

Salary: 80k-105k USD

United States only

Hello, we’re Instrumentl.

We’re a mission-driven startup helping the nonprofit sector to drive impact, and we’re well on our way to becoming the #1 most-loved grant discovery and management tool. To help us get there, we’re hiring an intellectually curious Content Marketer, who will collaborate with our Growth team to scale and optimize multiple initiatives across our go-to-market teams.
Do you love ideating and creating valuable content? Are you excited to make a social impact while working in tech? If so, then this position is for you.

About us:

Instrumentl is a hypergrowth YC-backed startup with over 4,000 nonprofit clients, from local homeless shelters to larger organizations like the San Diego Zoo and the University of Alaska. We are building the future of fundraising automation, helping nonprofits to discover, track, and manage grants efficiently through our SaaS platform.
Our charts are dramatically up-and-to-the-right 📈 — we’re cash flow positive and doubling year-over-year, with customers who love us (NPS is 65+ and Ellis PMF survey is 60+). Join us on this rocket ship!

About the role:

In your first year as a Content Marketer, you will help expand our company’s reach by scaling our content marketing and broader SEO efforts. This is a unique position where you’ll get to spearhead the growth of content marketing initiatives that have already meaningfully contributed to the company’s success in recent years, while also learning foundational growth sales marketing skills.
Instrumentl is a startup, so you’ll have the opportunity to contribute across many areas of the company and help define the future of your role. We’re interested in candidates who think strategically, enjoy experimentation, and take every opportunity to improve existing processes.
You'll be joining our small, highly autonomous team, reporting directly to our Head of Growth. Get to know us at instrumentl.com/about!
Instrumentl is fully distributed (though if you’d like to work from our Oakland office, we would love to see you there). For this position, we are looking for someone based in the continental US, but open to those flexible to Eastern or Central Time standard working hours as well.

What you'll get to do:

  • Identify and act on key emerging trends for our overall domain and blog
  • Implement CRO best practices to grow leads generated from content marketing efforts
  • Prune and optimize existing content to give the content the best shot on goal for driving business outcomes
  • Design and implement creative backlink building campaigns while also scaling broader backlink building initiatives
  • Assist in maintaining and expanding our content marketing calendar, as well as scaling company-wide SEO efforts
  • Draft copy for a variety of projects, from landing pages to email campaigns
  • Test hypotheses and collaborate with the Growth team to validate new opportunities

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of work experience: ideally, you've worked in Growth, SEO, Digital Marketing, or Content Marketing at a SaaS company.
  • Sharp technical SEO skills: you not only get on-page SEO, but also can easily identify off-page SEO opportunities. Tell us about this in your initial application to get extra attention from us.
  • Clear, concise copy: you consider yourself an effective writer and take pride in your copy.
  • Freelancer management experience: you’re comfortable recruiting, hiring, and working with freelance writers to contribute to content marketing efforts.
  • Strong business acumen: you can answer unstructured business questions and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to drive projects to conclusion.
  • Obsession with execution excellence: you're known for meeting deadlines, staying organized, and being incredibly dependable.
  • Excellent analytical skills: you spot trends quickly and feel comfortable conducting analysis with tools like Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Heap and Excel. You know what an index match is and can manipulate data easily.
  • Resourcefulness: you are able to figure things out on your own once given general direction and parameters for guidance.
  • Growth mindset: you exhibit a growth mindset every day and take feedback in stride.
  • Tech savviness: you're familiar with tools like G Suite, Zoom, Slack, HubSpot, and Canva. You love shortcuts and can name your favorites off the top of your head.
  • Communication: you pride yourself on your ability to communicate complex topics easily over video and in writing.
  • Friendliness: you are warm and friendly, easy to work with, and genuinely enjoy communicating with others.
  • Bonus: experience at an early-stage startup - you thrive in fast-paced environments and feel comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Bonus: experience with grants or in the nonprofit world.
  • Bonus: experience working remotely.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary ranges are based on market data, relative to our size, industry, and stage of growth. Salary is one part of total compensation, which also includes equity, perks, and competitive benefits.
  • For US-based candidates, our target salary band is $80,000 - $105,000/year + equity. Salary decisions will be based on multiple factors including geographic location, qualifications for the role, skillset, proficiency, and experience level.
  • 100% covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (50% for dependents)
  • Generous PTO policy, including parental leave
  • 401(k)
  • Company laptop + stipend to set up your home workstation
  • Company retreats for in-person time with your colleagues
  • Work with awesome nonprofits around the US. We partner with incredible organizations doing meaningful work, and you get to help power their success.
