About the Role:

The Accountant & Compliance (Mid-Level) is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and strict regulatory compliance within a fast-paced mortgage lending environment. This role goes beyond traditional accounting by bridging general ledger management with mortgage compliance, utilizing tools like Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks Online, and Power BI to maintain audit readiness, mitigate risk, and support business performance.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily general ledger activities including AP/AR, vendor entries, and reconciliations using QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Dynamics
    • Perform frequent escrow and trust account reconciliations, ensuring borrower funds are handled in compliance with RESPA guidelines
    • Oversee warehouse line reconciliations and monitor liquidity to ensure compliance with lender covenants and financial requirements
    • Prepare and submit Mortgage Call Reports (MCR) via NMLS and support state-specific financial disclosures
    • Ensure compliance with TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) requirements by auditing fee variances and identifying discrepancies
    • Develop Power BI dashboards to monitor financial risk, loan-level margins, and operational KPIs
    • Review marketing service agreements and vendor payments to ensure compliance with anti-kickback regulations
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, including regulatory examinations and CPA audits
    • Maintain accurate and detailed work papers to ensure alignment between loan origination systems and financial records
    • Design, implement, and test internal controls to prevent fraud and unauthorized intercompany transactions
    • Identify opportunities to automate compliance checks and streamline workflows using Microsoft Dynamics

✅ Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CIA candidate preferred)
    • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in Mortgage Lending, Banking, or Financial Services
    • Expert-level experience with Microsoft Dynamics and QuickBooks Online
    • Strong proficiency in Power BI for financial reporting and risk analysis
    • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query and complex data functions
    • Solid understanding of GAAP, HMDA reporting, and warehouse line management
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial and compliance concepts to non-financial stakeholders
    • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
