At IESC, we believe that lasting change comes from working alongside local communities rather than imposing solutions from afar. Our approach is fundamentally collaborative - we achieve our mission primarily through long-term staff who are principally from the countries where we work, supported by our Washington, DC home office, volunteer experts, and local partners. This locally-led model means our team members understand the context deeply and build solutions that genuinely fit. We value sustainability over quick fixes, integrity in every commitment we make, and the courage to innovate when traditional approaches aren't delivering results.

Our culture thrives on learning and adaptation. When we make mistakes, we capture that knowledge and share it widely so we don't repeat it. We embrace collaboration because solving complex global economic challenges requires diverse perspectives and strong partnerships. Service is at our core - we've mobilized thousands of volunteer experts over our 60-year history, believing deeply in the power of one person to create meaningful change. Our team members are adaptable problem-solvers who excel at building strong local partnerships and crafting solutions that work in specific contexts, because one-size-fits-all simply isn't how we operate.
