This senior leadership position drives Hunter Strategy's talent strategy while overseeing all aspects of human resources operations. The Director serves as a strategic business partner to the executive team while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical people functions. Balancing regulatory compliance with culture-building initiatives, this role directly impacts organizational performance through effective talent acquisition, development, and retention. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strategic vision, practical expertise, and the ability to scale HR operations in our growing government contracting environment.
Core Responsibilities
Talent Management
- Drive strategic talent acquisition and retention
- Build talent pipeline through networking and relationship development
- Oversee recruiting process from job descriptions to offers
- Create efficient onboarding experience for new team members
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs
- Analyze recruitment metrics to improve hiring outcomes
Benefits & Compliance
- Design, implement and manage competitive employee benefits portfolio
- Lead annual open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration
- Maintain HUBZone compliance
- Ensure employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Track required state registrations and maintain documentation
- Support security clearance administration with FSO
Performance & Development
- Design and implement performance management systems
- Partner with leadership on establishing clear expectations
- Develop regular feedback mechanisms and review processes
- Create merit-based compensation frameworks
- Oversee learning management system and training programs
- Manage summer internship program and certification tracking
Culture & Engagement
- Develop and execute employee engagement strategies
- Plan company-wide events including all-hands and annual Hunter Games
- Facilitate technical skills development and knowledge sharing events
- Recognize employee milestones and achievements
- Distribute corporate communications and newsletters
- Collect and analyze employee feedback
Policy Development
- Create and maintain comprehensive HR policies and procedures
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
- Communicate changes effectively across the organization
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation and implementation
- Support ISO, CMMI and other compliance initiatives
Team Leadership
- Manage People Operations staff
- Establish departmental priorities and performance metrics
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities
- Align team objectives with organizational strategy
- Serve as primary HR representative for executive leadership
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or related field preferred
- SHRM-CP/SCP, HRCI PHR/SPHR or equivalent professional certification highly desired
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience in government contracting environment strongly preferred
- Experience with HUBZone compliance requirements
- Track record of implementing successful talent acquisition strategies
- Proven ability to design and administer comprehensive benefits programs
- Experience with performance management system development and implementation
- Project management experience related to HR initiatives
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Rippling experience beneficial)
- Experience with ATS systems and recruitment processes
- Working knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with learning management systems
- Strong data analysis capabilities for workforce metrics
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools
