Job Role: Construction Admin / Estimating Assistant
Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.\

Who The Client Is: The client is an established Australian residential construction business specialising in building and renovation projects. With around a decade of industry experience, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship and managing projects efficiently from planning through completion.
After operating as a lean operation for many years, the business is now experiencing rapid growth with multiple projects running simultaneously, creating the need for strong operational and administrative support to help scale the company while maintaining quality and organization.
Role Overview: We are seeking a Construction Admin / Estimating Assistant to support a growing construction business based in Australia. The company has been operating successfully for around a decade and is currently expanding rapidly, managing multiple active residential projects simultaneously.
This role is ideal for someone with strong construction administration experience and practical knowledge of estimating and take-offs, who can help streamline project workflows, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors, and support the operational side of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Costing
- Assist with construction estimating and quantity take-offs from plans and specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates for materials and labor.
- Request and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain and update costing sheets, estimate templates, and pricing records.
- Support the preparation of project budgets and cost breakdowns.
Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination
- Source and request pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Compare quotes and highlight cost variations.
- Maintain a database of vendors, subcontractors, and supplier contacts.
Construction Administration
- Organize project documentation including quotes, invoices, plans, and contracts.
- Assist with project scheduling and tracking key milestones.
- Maintain accurate project records and cost tracking.
- Support general construction-related administrative tasks.
General Administrative Support
- Manage emails and communications with suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Assist with file organization and document management.
- Help improve systems and processes to support a growing project pipeline.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong construction industry knowledge.
- Experience with estimating, take-offs, and construction costing.
- Experience obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotes.
- Background in construction administration or project support.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Experience using Excel or similar tools for estimates and cost tracking.
- Familiarity with construction documentation and quoting processes.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
