Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in fine-tuning and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and optimal performance of our database systems.

Responsibilities:

Database Performance Tuning:

Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks in SQL Server databases.

Develop and implement strategies for query optimization, index optimization, and overall database performance enhancement.

Monitor database performance proactively and make recommendations for improvements.

Database Maintenance:

Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backup and recovery, index maintenance, and statistics updates.

Ensure data integrity and reliability through routine checks and preventive measures.

Implement best practices for database security and access control.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

Investigate and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.

Collaborate with application developers and other teams to troubleshoot performance-related problems.

Capacity Planning:

Monitor database growth and plan for scalability as needed.

Make recommendations for hardware and software upgrades to support future database requirements.

Documentation:

Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Create and update documentation for performance tuning efforts.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Proven work experience as a SQL Database Administrator with a focus on performance tuning.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including the latest versions.

Proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.

Familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot database issues effectively.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS).

Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

Experience with automation and scripting for database tasks.

Familiarity with database security best practices.

Experience with database replication and high availability solutions.
