The Role

We are seeking a Developer Relations Engineer to grow and support Horizen’s global developer ecosystem.

This role blends hands-on technical integration support, developer education, documentation ownership, and ecosystem evangelism. You will act as a direct support to developers building on Horizen, helping to ensure they have the clarity, tools, and support they need to successfully integrate privacy technologies and solutions and to deploy and scale their applications on the Horizen network.

The ideal candidate has experience as a blockchain application developer (EVM, Solidity, and related technologies) and is particularly experienced with a variety of privacy technologies such as trusted execution environments (TEE’s) and zero-knowledge proofs. Interest or experience in AI/agentic tools and technologies is also preferred.

We seek candidates with a high degree of self-motivation and agency – able to take strategic direction and translate it directly into plans and action in support of goals and desired outcomes. Ideal candidates are equally comfortable doing solo asynchronous work such as production of developer documentation, articles, resources, and how-to guides, as well as collaborative work such as hands-on developer support and educational programming including remote and in-person workshops and hackathons.

What You’ll Own

Developer Documentation & Learning Resources

  • A key part of this role will be taking ownership of Horizen’s developer documentation and resources, adding to their depth and breadth, and improving structure, clarity, and accessibility so that developers of all experience levels can easily build within the ecosystem.
  • Improve, expand, and maintain technical docs, tutorials, and guides for developers building on Horizen.
  • Produce example code, walkthroughs, and educational materials that lower the barrier to entry for new builders as well as more experienced developers.
  • Work closely with other stakeholders to ensure documentation and resources accurately reflect current capabilities and roadmap.

Technical Integration & Support

  • Provide hands-on guidance to developers and ecosystem partners building on Horizen.
  • Support ecosystem and grant projects to ensure successful integration and delivery.
  • Gather feedback from developers and relay actionable insights to internal teams to improve tooling, resources, and developer experience.

Partnerships & Advocacy

  • Work with business development and ecosystem teams to support strategic partnerships.
  • Advocate internally for developer needs, contributing to product and roadmap discussions.
  • Build relationships with developer groups, universities, and training organizations.

Community Building & Evangelism

  • Drive awareness and adoption of Horizen within global developer communities.
  • Create and deliver presentations, workshops, and technical content to educate and engage builders.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and content production alongside other team members.
  • Represent Horizen at hackathons, meetups, conferences, and online events.
  • Evangelize Horizen’s privacy-preserving technologies and explain their real-world application to developers and partners.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with EVM technologies such as Solidity, smart contracts, and related tooling.
  • Highly proficient with blockchain-centric privacy technologies and interest in privacy applications.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, tutorials, and developer-focused educational content.
  • Comfort engaging with developer communities through online and in-person channels and events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for community and partner engagements.

Why Join Us?

  • Play a key role in shaping the developer experience for a growing blockchain ecosystem.
  • Work at the intersection of privacy, scalability, and EVM-based innovation.
  • Collaborate with a global team passionate about open, secure, and interoperable blockchain technology.
  • Help empower developers worldwide to build impactful applications on Horizen.

View company profile

Horizen Labs, founded in 2019 by Rob Viglione, embarked on a mission to build a more secure and equitable digital world, positioning itself at the heart of the decentralization revolution. The company was established to provide efficient and cost-effective ways to create blockchain solutions for real-world applications, emphasizing information integrity and data privacy without compromising scalability or security. Horizen Labs' proprietary blockchain deployment tools empower users to develop blockchain solutions by leveraging Horizen's robust and secure public blockchain platform, which features enhanced privacy, low transaction fees, and configurable revenue models. The journey began with a focus on harnessing zero-knowledge technology to preserve data privacy on a highly secure decentralized network, enabling builders, makers, and enterprises to create scalable blockchain applications. This vision aimed to grant the world greater freedom, wider accessibility, and broader economic opportunity.

Over the years, Horizen Labs has dedicated itself to scaling decentralized networks and elevating blockchain technology to new levels of efficiency. By concentrating on the development of next-generation, modular architectures, the company has consistently set new standards for performance, security, and cost-effectiveness in the blockchain space. This commitment has earned the trust of industry giants such as Yuga Labs, Animoca Brands, and Offchain Labs. In December 2022, Horizen Labs announced a strategic move to sharpen its focus by spinning off its Web3 advisory services into a new entity called Horizen Labs Ventures (HLV). This allowed Horizen Labs to double down on developing advanced blockchain solutions for enterprises and governments, leveraging both the Horizen blockchain and SNARK-related technology. The company has been actively involved in significant projects, including the development of ApeCoin, Otherdeeds, and Ape Staking, and has been instrumental in launching Horizen's Cobalt Web Wallet and releasing NFTs and fungible tokens on the TokenMint Platform. With a globally distributed team and offices in locations like Milan, New York City, and Austin, Horizen Labs continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in Web3, driving towards a future where blockchain's use is ubiquitous across various market segments.
