Opportunity (Part-Time): Forward Air Controller (FAC) Rotary-Wing Pilot SME (Air-to-Ground Integration / Close Air Support)

Bottom Line Up Front: Hoplite Group is seeking an Air Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience in air-to-ground integration and close air support operations to support a U.S. Government effort focused on assessing, validating, and refining a partner nation’s Air-to-Ground Integration (AGI) capability framework, doctrine, and training systems.

Location: Remote support (CONUS) and forward engagements (OCONUS) in a partner nation and U.S. Combatant Command Headquarters.

Level of Effort:
  • Non travel months: Approximately 30-40 hours/month.
  • Travel engagements: Approximately 80 hours/month during engagement months (estimated quarterly).
  • Post-Engagement: Remote support as needed.

Availability: Immediate

Objective: To review and validate a previously conducted capability-based assessment (CBA) and associated implementation plan focused on Air-to-Ground Integration (AGI). Assess partner nation execution against identified lines of effort and support refinement of doctrine, standard operating procedures, and training frameworks to enable sustainable AGI capability development. Evaluate Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) certification requirements and course curriculum to ensure alignment with operational requirements and long-term force generation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Former U.S. Military Pilot (Rotary-Wing) with extensive experience in Close Air Support (CAS) and air-to-ground integration operations
  • Retired O-5 or O-6 military officer preferred. Experienced CW5 Aviators will be considered as well.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating air and ground operations in joint and combined environments.
  • Experience in Joint Targeting processes, including participation in targeting cycle activities.
  • Experience as a certified Forward Air Controller (FAC).
  • Experience working within a Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC), specifically supporting planning, targeting, or operational execution functions.
  • Experience advising, mentoring, or supporting partner nation military forces in a security cooperation or institutional capacity-building environment.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, developing, or refining military training programs, doctrine, or operational procedures.
  • Experience assessing operational effectiveness and providing recommendations to improve capability development, force generation, or readiness.
  • Active Secret clearance required.
