Large Project Pursuits Manager (Location: Remote US)

The Opportunity

The Large Project Pursuits Manager for mega/special Projects supports the pursuit and development of complex, high-value opportunities across Hitachi Energy Business Units. Working in alignment with the Sales Director – Large Project Pursuits and in close coordination with Business Unit (BU) Business Development Managers, Account Managers, and 3rd party representatives from FES, this role helps coordinate pursuit activities, contribute to strategy development, and support disciplined execution from early engagement through final agreement.

This role works closely stakeholders to provide analysis, coordinate inputs, and support alignment to help position pursuits for success. Additionally, the Large Project Pursuit Manager will lead Capture Teams activities, ensuring effective collaboration and execution throughout the pursuit process.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Strategic Leadership: Support the mega/special projects portfolio and contribute to key pursuits across multiple Business Units by helping develop pursuit strategies, priorities, and coordination plans that support business objectives.
  • Mega Project Screening & Selection: Support the screening, qualification, and evaluation of mega/special project opportunities by gathering inputs, assessing strategic fit, and helping prepare recommendations for review through the established governance process.
  • Cross-BU Collaboration: Work with various Business Units, including Service, to support coordination and execution of mega/special project strategies. Help align stakeholders, contribute to pursuit planning, and provide a cross-functional perspective focused on what is best for the opportunity.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Support communication among internal stakeholders by preparing updates, consolidating inputs, and helping present key issues, trade-offs, and recommendations for review.
  • Risk Management: Participate in governance and risk reviews related to mega/special projects, support bid/no-bid discussions, identify key commercial, technical, execution, and compliance risks, and help track mitigation actions.
  • Budget Support: Support budget planning and tracking for the Mega/Special Projects function by helping monitor investments, priorities, and spending against business needs and approved plans.
  • Budget Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly budget updates, including forecast versus actual reporting and KPI tracking, and highlight variances, risks, and recommended follow-up actions.
  • Governance Support: Support the operating cadence for mega/special projects by helping coordinate pipeline reviews, governance checkpoints, decision tracking, and follow-up actions across Business Units.
  • Customer Engagement: Support Front End Sales engaging with the customers early, pre-feed studies and request-for-proposal, to assess the development of direction, discuss potential solutions and approaches and bring forward the Hitachi Energy technical expertise to support the customer.
  • Channels: Work internally and externally in the early stages of the process, demonstrate broad thinking and ability to support various approaches / channels. As the process develops and the optimal solution is identified, drive the value of the full portfolio approach and technology.
  • Data Quality: Ensure the accurate entry, maintenance, and ongoing quality of data in Salesforce (SFDC) for all mega/special project pursuits and activities. Regularly update opportunity records, monitor information consistency, and collaborate with team members to verify completeness and reliability of sales data in support of reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Travel Required: 30-50%

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree is preferably within a technical discipline
  • Minimum total of 10 years professional experience with at least 5 years directly involved with customer contact and selling of large project solutions through customer relationships, commercial and strategic skills
  • Candidate must already have work permanent authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Requires strong knowledge of the energy market and competitors
  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategic direction and develop strategic partnerships
  • Strong commercial expertise, contract negotiations, risk assessment and mitigation preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiations including addressing terms & conditions preferred
  • Sales experience in the energy market with Developers, EPCs, Data Centers, O&G, Renewbales is preferred
  • Experience in driving large project pursuits preferred
