High Voltage Software, Inc. (HVS) is a distinguished American video game developer with a rich history spanning over three decades. Founded in April 1993 by Kerry J. Ganofsky, the company emerged from humble beginnings in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Initially a small team of four, HVS has since grown into a prominent independent game development studio, recognized for its creative and technical prowess in the interactive entertainment industry. The company's portfolio boasts over 95 shipped titles across a wide array of platforms, showcasing its versatility and adaptability to the ever-evolving landscape of gaming technology. Some of their most notable and commercially successful projects include 'Lego Racers,' the 'Hunter: The Reckoning' series, 'The Conduit,' and significant contributions to major franchises like 'Mortal Kombat X,' 'Saints Row: Gat out of Hell,' and 'Fortnite.'

Throughout its journey, High Voltage Software has remained at the forefront of innovation. The company developed the Quantum3 game engine, specifically optimized for the Nintendo Wii, demonstrating its commitment to pushing the boundaries of hardware capabilities. In a strategic move to expand its talent pool and operational footprint, HVS opened a second studio in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2015. This expansion allowed the company to leverage new creative energies and contribute to the growing tech scene in the region. In December 2020, High Voltage Software was acquired by Keywords Studios, a global provider of technical and creative services to the video games industry. This acquisition has provided HVS with greater resources and a broader international network, while allowing it to maintain its core identity and passion for creating engaging and high-quality gaming experiences. The studio continues to develop games for various platforms, including virtual reality, and remains a key player in both the Chicago and New Orleans development communities.
