Business Developer (The Ultimate Advisor)

The Mandate

We are not looking for a "salesperson." If you want to pitch products and hit a quota by talking at people, go somewhere else. We are looking for the ultimate advisor. Your goal is to build a relationship so deep that the client wouldn't dream of making a major life or business decision without calling you first. You aren't selling a service; you are selling your judgment.

1. The "No Task is Beneath You" Protocol

You will start by working on the factory floor, doing the "grunt work." You will learn everything about how our products are made. You’ll be organizing salesforce data, proofreading pitch decks at 2:00 AM, and fetching coffee for the team. Why? Because if we can’t trust you to get a font right or a lunch order perfect, we certainly can’t trust you with a multi-million relationship. You must have zero ego and an infinite work ethic

2. The 24/7 Responsiveness StandardIn this role, "work-life balance" is not measured by the day; it’s measured by the decade. If a client or a partner emails you at 11:00 PM on a Saturday, you respond by 11:05 PM. Speed is the most basic way to demonstrate that a client is your top priority. If you want a 9-to-5, this isn't the seat for you.

3. The Art of the Follow-UpMost people stop after the first "no." You don't. You will be politely, professionally, and relentlessly persistent. If we want to get in front of a CEO, you will find a way. You don’t take "no" for an answer—you take it as a request for more information or a better timing.

4. Performance Under Pressure
You will be thrown into rooms with people much smarter and more experienced than you. Your job in those rooms is simple: Take notes. Never sit in a meeting without a pen and paper. It shows respect, it shows you’re listening, and it ensures you don’t miss the subtle "hooks" that allow us to add value later.

Core Competencies

Extreme Humility:
You must be comfortable being the "dumbest" person in the room for a while. You are here to learn the technicals so well that they become second nature.

The "Admissions Mistake" Grit: We value people who feel they have something to prove. If you’ve ever felt like an underdog, you’ll fit in here.

Integrity Above Revenue: You must be willing to tell a prospect not to do a deal if it’s bad for them. Losing a commission to gain a lifetime of trust is the only way we operate.

Attention to Detail: One typo in a client email is a signal of sloppiness. In this business, sloppiness is fatal.

What You GainYou will learn how the world actually works. You will learn how to communicate, how to persuade, and how to build a network that will sustain you for thirty years. If you survive the first two years of the "grind," you will have earned the right to be a Senior Business Developer.

How to Apply

If you’re worried about the hours, don’t apply. If you’re worried about the "menial" tasks, don’t apply. If you want to be the person everyone calls when the stakes are highest, we want to talk to you.

About Hästens

View company profile

Hästens is Sweden's oldest bedmaker, crafting extraordinary sleep experiences since 1852. What began as a saddlery business founded by Pehr Adolf Janson has evolved over six generations into the world's most prestigious luxury bed manufacturer. Today, under fifth-generation CEO Jan Ryde, Hästens continues to handcraft every bed in their Köping, Sweden factory using the same artisanal techniques and natural materials that have defined the brand for over 170 years.

Each Hästens bed is meticulously constructed using ethically-sourced natural materials - genuine horsetail hair, cotton, wool, flax, and Swedish pine - combined with proprietary spring systems. The company's master craftsmen hand-tease horsetail hair to create superior ventilation and humidity absorption, ensuring optimal sleep climate. With beds ranging from premium models to the $750,000 Grand Vividus, Hästens serves discerning clients in over 40 countries across 300+ retail partners, maintaining their commitment to the 'Spirit of Excellence' that has guided the family business for six generations.
