We’re looking for a Product Manager with deep expertise in thepayments ecosystemto own and improve credit-card transaction acceptance forActive Advantage, our global membership program. This role goes beyond traditional product management—it’s about mastering the details ofissuers, acquirers, merchant IDs, BIN behavior, and descriptor strategyto raise approval rates and reduce friction. You’ll design granular dashboards to monitor performance at theissuer, bank, BIN, and client-cohort levels, identify patterns, and work directly with processors, networks, and internal teams to deliver measurable, data-driven improvements in payment success and customer experience.

This Product Manager role is uniquely focused onpayment transaction acceptancefor Active Advantage, our global membership subscription product. Rather than traditional feature development, this position centers onoptimizing payment performance—ensuring every attempted transaction has the highest possible chance of approval across all markets and card networks.

The ideal candidate will bringdeep domain expertise in payments, including practical understanding ofissuers, acquirers, card networks, merchant IDs (MIDs), BIN behavior, and descriptor strategy. You should be fluent in how authorization decisions are made and how to influence them through data, configuration, and process improvements.

In this role, you’ll build and owndetailed performance dashboardsthat monitor acceptance at multiple levels—issuer, bank, BIN, processor, and customer cohort—to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. You’ll analyze payment outcomes byagency and client segment, partnering with Finance, Data, and Payment Operations to uncover why certain cohorts experience lower acceptance and to implement targeted remedies.

Your work will involve collaborating with external processor and network contacts to fine-tunepresentment logic(e.g., MCC, descriptor, routing, retry cadence) and engaging internal engineering teams to ensure our payments infrastructure is instrumented for precision monitoring. Success in this role means transforming complex transaction data into actionable insights that drive measurable improvements in acceptance, reliability, and customer trust.

This position is ideal for someone who comes from apayments or acquiring background—for example, from an issuer, processor, PSP, or card network—and who wants to apply that expertise within a product-led environment. Strong analytical skills, deep familiarity with payment lifecycle data, and comfort working at the intersection offinancial operations, data science, and product managementare essential.

Summary of This Role

This role provides strategic and operational direction forActive Advantage, an eight-figure annual recurring revenue membership product within Active Network’s consumer portfolio. The Product Manager – Payment Acceptance is responsible for ensuring that customer transactions succeed consistently and compliantly across all markets.

Rather than focusing on feature delivery, this role centers onpayment performance— owning how our credit and debit transactions flow across issuers, acquirers, and processors. The Product Manager identifies friction, partners with finance and data teams to resolve it, and ensures our payment ecosystem performs at the highest possible acceptance rate.

What Part Will You Play?

  • Serve as theproduct owner for payment acceptanceacross all Active Advantage merchant accounts and regions.

  • Partner withGlobal Payments, Finance, and Engineeringto monitor, analyze, and improve transaction authorization performance.

  • Design, maintain, and continuously refinedeeply detailed dashboardsthat monitor payment outcomes at multiple levels — including issuer, bank, BIN, processor, merchant ID, and customer cohort.

  • Analyze patterns byagency and client groupingsto understand where acceptance varies and lead structured initiatives to close performance gaps.

  • Work directly with payment partners to optimizepresentment strategy(including MCC, descriptor, routing, and retry logic).

  • Ensure all payment activity complies withregional recurring-payment regulationsin the U.S., U.K., and Australia.

  • Collaborate with Data and Finance to reconcile payment data and improve transaction visibility, accuracy, and reporting reliability.

  • Translate findings into business recommendations that directly improverecurring revenue capture, customer retention, and card network reputation.

  • Partner with other product teams using shared infrastructure to standardize best practices in acceptance monitoring and reporting.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience inpayments, acquiring, or financial operations, ideally with exposure to recurring billing or large-scale e-commerce.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and act on authorization, settlement, and chargeback data.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with data, engineering, and finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working for or with apayment processor, acquiring bank, card network, or large-scale merchant.

  • Familiarity with key payment concepts includingissuer response codes, BIN behavior, merchant category codes (MCC), charge descriptor optimization, and retry logic.

  • Proficiency in data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau, SQL).

  • Experience designing or managing dashboards that track granular transaction metrics and trends.

  • Understanding of regional compliance obligations for recurring billing and refunds.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into actionable insight.

Job Complexity– Works on complex transaction acceptance and financial data issues that require nuanced evaluation across multiple systems, partners, and global markets. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, interpreting results, and recommending interventions that directly impact revenue capture and customer satisfaction.

Supervision– Operates with a high degree of autonomy, collaborating laterally across functions rather than managing a team directly. May coordinate activities of analysts or data contributors as needed.
