JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Data Manager to join our diverse and inclusive team. For this position, you will be the primary steward of our data health, with a heavy focus on maintaining robust infrastructure and providing essential technical support to our national team. Reporting to the Director of Evaluation and Learning and part of the Program & Impact Team, you will ensure our systems, from our data visualization tools to our internal support ticket desk, are efficient, reliable, and equity-rooted. You will play a critical role in translating raw data into the insights that fuel our mission to build an inclusive multi-racial democracy.
This is a remote-first role that includes meaningful opportunities for in-person collaboration and travel to our regional events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Systems & Infrastructure Management (50%)
- Oversee the integrity and accessibility of Generation Citizen's data by structuring survey administration, performing data cleaning, and maintaining the organization's data infrastructure.
- Support upgrades to our current data tools. This includes building dashboards, creating and streamlining reports, and leveraging unutilized or underutilized features to improve how we work.
- Manage data visualization software and refine existing dashboards by pulling and analyzing reports from surveys and other data sources.
Internal Technical Support & Capacity Building (30%)
- Manage the Program & Impact Team’s support ticket system. You will act as the primary point of contact for technical issues and internal data requests, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Assist staff with the implementation of new systems and processes to enhance data collection & data integrity for program impact and evaluation; provide ongoing troubleshooting, technical support, and guidance.
- While this role does not directly touch GC’s Salesforce ecosystem, you will maintain a basic understanding of how these systems interact with our data flow.
Strategic Analysis & Equity-Centered Insights (20%)
- Proactively respond to internal requests by pulling and sharing key data insights that inform organizational decision-making and measure our overall impact.
- Produce data visualizations for key events, trainings, and reports.
- Ensure that data systems are used to promote equity-centered insights, including disaggregating data to highlight outcomes for underrepresented populations.
- Support strategic planning by identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities revealed through data. Provide thought partnership or reporting at both a regional and national level.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, information technology, data visualization, or similar field.
- Previous experience or a strong interest in the non-profit sector, civic education, or social justice is highly valued.
- Data Proficiency: Demonstrated ability in data management, cleaning, integrity, and analysis. You should feel comfortable ensuring data integrity and pulling actionable insights from raw numbers.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: An analytical approach to work, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and improve existing systems.
- Attention to Detail: Required to ensure reliable reporting and accurate data cleaning.
- Organization & Time Management: The ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, like data requests, support tickets, and system maintenance, efficiently.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills. You can explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience and thrive in a fully remote, matrixed organization.
NOTE
This position works primarily remotely but will be expected to travel no more than 15% of the time to attend monthly in-person team days, organizational retreats, special events, external partner meetings, conferences, and other potential in-person activities. Required in-person opportunities include, but are not limited to, annual staff retreats, and region-based Civics Day events. This role may include a limited amount of overnight travel.

SALARY
Generation Citizen is committed to maintaining a compensation and total rewards package that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we are guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal pay equity. Roles on the National team extend throughout the country causing a wider salary range due to geographic variation versus regional roles that have a set salary.
The salary range for this role is$66,120- $72,898.
