The Technical Leader for Fuel Cycle Analysis (FCA) team will be responsible for leading the delivery of Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fuel bundles and core designs in support of bundle manufacturing, asset enhancements, and implementation of next generation fuel designs.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interface with Product Line Leaders (PLLs), Project Managers (PMs), Project Engineers (PEs) and engineering leaders/teams to coordinate and provide scope development, work planning, scheduling, and technical support for customer deliverables
- Communicate/collaborate with internal GEH/GNF functions as well as customers in order to provide technical support and engineering deliverables related to GNF-A nuclear fuel contracts
- Work within a team environment to perform, verify, and mentor other engineers in performing technical evaluations in BWR fuel bundle and core designs in support of bundle manufacturing, reload licensing, cycle management, and core monitoring databank preparation
- Work with GNF engineering leaders/teams to ensure that GNF fuel products are designed and analyzed in accordance with quality, design, and licensing requirements
- Provide process leader expertise, technical problem solving, and work oversight in technical domain areas
- Drive continuous improvement in technical processes and procedures
- Represent GNF to customers, nuclear regulators, and at industry meetings
- Foster integrity, safety, and quality as the most important priorities
- Effectively manage multiple priorities
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline AND8 years of engineering in a nuclear field and/or project management experience, with the majority of that experience coming from engineering roles.
OR
- Master’s degree in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline AND6 years of engineering in a nuclear field and/or project management experience, with the majority of that experience coming from engineering roles.
OR
- Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, physics, computational methods or a closely related technical discipline AND3 years of engineering in a nuclear field and/or project management experience, with the majority of that experience coming from engineering roles.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience with BWR technology.
- Working knowledge of nuclear reactor core licensing, technical specifications, safety margin bases, code methodology licensing, and related federal regulations.
- Programming experience with Fortran, Python, and C#.
- Experience with BWR core simulator and use of 3-Dimensional neutron kinetics codes
- Experience performing technical evaluations and providing technical support in the areas of nuclear fuel bundle and core design, reload licensing, cycle management, and core monitoring databanks.
- Knowledge of USNRC licensing requirements
- Knowledge of US utility outage planning processes
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information.
- Exceptional organization skills.
- Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets.
- Excellent external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industry.
