The Lean Coach is responsible for driving deployment, adoption, and sustainment of the GE Vernova Operating Method across the Steam Power Services Nuclear segment. The role supports both regional operations across Nuclear segment as well as the value stream transformation.
Working across both a regional operating segment and a value stream, the Lean Coach partners with operational leaders, functional teams, and business stakeholders to ensure lean practices are consistently applied, operating discipline is maintained, and sustainable business improvement is achieved.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure operating methods, including MOR, Daily Management, kaizen execution, and roadmap development and execution, are consistently followed; coach leaders and teams back to standard when deviations occur.
- Partner with operational and functional leaders to build lean capability, strengthen execution rigor, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Coach value stream transformation activities as part of Steam Power Services’ Breakthrough Project initiative.
- Lead value stream transformation initiatives in line with kaizen execution standards and roadmap setting and execution.
- Support value stream performance management by establishing MOR and improving Daily Management practices.
- Drive adherence to defined operating methods, standard work, visual management, daily management, and leader standard work.
- Identify deviations from established standards and coach teams to restore discipline and sustain compliance.
- Coach leaders and teams in lean principles, structured problem solving, accountability, and continuous improvement practices.
- Facilitate operational reviews, genba walks, and performance discussions to assess maturity, identify gaps, and prioritize improvement actions.
- Support kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer outcomes.
- Enable effective use of KPIs and visual management tools to improve transparency, escalation, and decision-making.
- Drive consistency of lean practices across the Europe, Middle East, Africa, and APAC regions.
- Coach execution discipline across assigned value stream in line with the Value Stream Management Framework.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure best practices are shared, sustained, and embedded in daily operations.
- Build organizational capability by developing lean leadership behaviours and reinforcing a culture of operational excellence.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Engineering Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college,
- At least eight (8) years experience in lean, continuous improvement, operations, services, manufacturing, or operational excellence roles.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority in a matrix organization.
- Demonstrated experience deploying lean principles and operating systems in complex, matrixed business environments.
- At least three (3) years experience in proven ability to coach senior leaders and teams to improve operating discipline and sustain standard work.
- Strong coaching mindset with the ability to provide direct, constructive feedback and build sustainable capability.
- Strong problem-solving, facilitation, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across regions, functions, and organizational levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the US region, and globally as required.
- Ability to communicate in English
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in power generation, energy, industrial services, field services, or related sectors.
- Strong knowledge of GE Vernova lean principles, management systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with Gas Power, Steam Power technologies , core services and , upgrades and service execution environments.
- Experience leading or supporting GE Vernova operating rhythm, daily management, visual management, and problem-solving processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High degree of accountability, resilience, and execution focus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across a geographically dispersed organization.
