The Center for Community Journalism (CCJ) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic part-time Editorial Assistant to join our growing Opinion Group. This exciting role involves curating and processing letters to the editor for various sites across the group. You will also process content for print publication when necessary and assist the regional opinion editor in various daily tasks to efficiently produce opinion content across the group. This is a support role and will act as a liaison to several editors across the group, providing a unique opportunity to work closely with a talented and passionate team.
This role is focused on Michigan but is open to remote candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curate and process letters to the editor for various sites across the group.
• Process content for print publication when necessary.
• Assist the opinion group editor in various daily tasks to efficiently produce opinion content across the group.
• Act as a liaison to several editors across the group.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an administrative or support role. News experience valued but not required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and editorial software.
• Previous experience in editorial work or a related field is preferred.
Working Hours:
• Part-time, flexible hours.

The hourly rate for this role will range between $12.55 and $29.30. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
