Material Planning Specialist

All about the role:

The main goal of a person in the position of Material Planning Specialist is to ensure the availability of components for production, properly manage them, maintain adequate inventory levels, and foster good relationships with suppliers through the application of best supply chain management practices. Ultimately, these actions lead to achieving objectives related to material availability, production efficiency, cost reduction, and product quality.

In detail, you will:

1. Inventory Management: Senior Material Planner is responsible for monitoring and managing the levels of components. The Planner's role is to maintain a balance between minimizing storage costs and ensuring an adequate supply of inventory to meet production needs. Proper management of obsolete and slow-moving materials is a crucial aspect, as well as introducing and coordinating new components.

2. Production Planning Support: Providing information on component availability, suppliers production capacity, and other potential risks to the production plan.

3. Orders Management: Material Planner places orders for components required for production. Coordinating sending of orders, verifying their accuracy, and tracking their fulfillment.

4. Supply Management: Coordinating the delivery of components to ensure they are available at the right time, place and quantity. If necessary, Planner takes corrective actions in case of delays or delivery issues. Closely collaborating with external warehouses and freight forwarders.

5. Process Optimization: Material Planner is tasked with continuously improving processes related to supply and inventory management. Planner seeks ways to increase process efficiency, reduce costs and shorten delivery times.

6. Data Analysis and Reporting: Conducting data analysis related to inventory and supplies. These analyses help in making strategic decisions and improving material management. Planner creates documentation related to material activities and prepares reports on inventory levels, costs and production risk assessments.

7. Collaboration with Other Departments: Material Planner closely collaborates with other departments such as production, quality, warehouse, technical department, procurement, and controlling to ensure consistency in actions throughout the supply chain.

8. Priority Management: Planner must be able to determine which orders or projects have the highest priority and oversee their execution according to established timelines.

9. Problem Solving: Material Planner must be able to solve issues related to deliveries, changes in the production plan, or components quality problems. The planner must make quick and appropriate decisions to avoid production disruptions caused by component shortages according to the process.

Where you’ll be:

You will be based in Wroclaw (Poland), a Supply Chain Center where we are responsible for Material and production planning, Aftermarket, supply chain market, launch process, and digitalization and optimization Supply Chain.

Who you are:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in Supply Chain, logistics, or material planning roles.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work with suppliers for various regions.

  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to the supply chain

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good cross-functional team relationships.

  • Ability to multitask, attention to detail, prioritize daily work, and independence.
