Job Overview
We are seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Editor to join our College Division. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of professional writing or editing experience and a strong foundation in creative nonfiction, particularly essay writing and prompt-based narrative work.
In this role, you will work closely with College Admissions Consultants and Senior Editors to develop, refine, and elevate student essays for college applications. You will play a key role in shaping compelling narratives while ensuring clarity, structure, authenticity, and adherence to admissions standards.
Commitment during the college admissions season (August–December) is required due to increased assignment volume and fixed deadlines.

Responsibilities:
Writing & Editing
- Collaborate with College Admissions Consultants to brainstorm and shape essay direction and strategy.
- Edit student drafts for grammar, clarity, structure, flow, style, and word count.
- Provide detailed written feedback that strengthens intellectual depth and narrative coherence.
- Support multiple rounds of revisions to ensure each submission meets quality standards.
- Conduct topic research as needed to support student content and contextual accuracy.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with Senior Editors to align on standards, tone, and editorial expectations.
- Support fellow Editors during high-volume or urgent deadlines.
- Participate in team discussions, feedback sessions, and collaborative brainstorming.
Administrative & Logistical Coordination
- Manage assignment-related administrative tasks efficiently and independently.
- Communicate logistical needs and updates with consultants and editors.
- Organize send-outs of completed assignments to clients.
- Draft email updates and reminders for assigned students.
- Schedule review meetings with Consultants and Senior Editors.
- Take and distribute structured meeting notes.
Business Development
- Contribute to internal projects, marketing initiatives, or cross-division assignments during the developmental cycle.
- Support content development, outreach efforts, or operational initiatives that strengthen the College Division.
Availability & Expectations
- Full-time, long-term commitment required.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Pacific Time (remote). Occasional weekend work may be required during peak season.
- Responsiveness via Slack, Gmail, and Zoom during working hours.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- High level of flexibility and professionalism when receiving and implementing feedback.
- Strong personal accountability and ownership of assigned work.
- Integrity Standard: We do not permit the use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard) for student-facing content. AI-generated material can jeopardize a student’s application. Violation of this policy will result in immediate termination.
Qualifications:
Eligibility
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of grammar and narrative structure.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or a related field. Applicants from other disciplines are welcome to apply; however, written samples will be heavily evaluated.
- 2–5 years of professional writing or editing experience in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience in education consulting or college admissions is preferred but not required.
- Portfolio with a minimum of three writing samples (one creative piece and one research-based piece encouraged).
- Ability to edit and write skillfully without reliance on AI tools.
- Experience working PST hours is preferred but not required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong narrative development and analytical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Comfortable balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and collaboration tools.
