Job Summary

Maximizes the delivery of value to customers in the shortest sustainable lead time. Identifies business and customer needs, prioritizing program level work and guiding this work through the process of Program Kanban. Contributes to the development of the vision and defining and executing on the roadmap for the value stream in which they support with the guidance of a more senior PM or Business Leader. Continuously defines, prioritizes and validates requirements using market research, customer feedback and development capacity to deliver value in short, integrated learning cycles.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Embraces continuous exploration through frequent customer interaction and end user interviews and surveys; uses findings as input into the vision, roadmap and selection of features addressing those needs.
  2. Serves as the internal voice of the customer for the ART and works with customers and Product Owners to understand and communicate their needs and participate in the validation of the proposed solutions.
  3. Works closely with development, in short, integrated learning cycles, to bring the voice of the customer to the developers and the voice of development to the customer.
  4. Demonstrates an understanding of the business strategy by contributing to the development and maintenance of the program vision that defines how their Agile Release Train (ART) will work to achieve the business objectives with the guidance of a more senior PM or Business Leader.
  5. Responsible for the program roadmap with the guidance of a more senior PM or Business Leader to illustrate how features are intended to be implemented over time. In collaboration with System Architect, defines and maintains the Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs) and other enabler work to ensure the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements.
  6. Works with Epic Owners to develop the Lean business case for Epics that affect their ART.
  7. Manages the flow of work into and through the program Kanban and accountable for content decisions for the ARTs. Responsible for continuously defining, prioritizing, and validating features.
  8. Embraces changes as indicated by being receptive to emerging knowledge and information that can be quickly fed back into the solution and/or used in prioritization.
  9. May require frequent support from more senior PM or leadership.
  10. Responsible for defining release readiness.
  11. Owns the decision of when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the customer with frequent approval required.
  12. Active participant in biweekly System Demos, including the aggregated System Demo performed end of the Program Increment (PI).
  13. Participate in the assessment of Metrics, including evaluation of business value achieved versus plan, and are active participants in the Inspect and Adapt workshop.
  14. During PI planning, responsible for presenting the vision, which highlights the proposed features for the PI, along with any relevant upcoming Milestones.
  15. Also act as a Business Owners for the train, with the responsibility of approving PI Objectives and establishing business value. Responsible for building an effective Product Management/Product Owner team to ensure efficient and effective development.
  16. Aids in the development of the Product Owners on their train.
  17. Contributes to the job satisfaction that comes with being part of a high-performing team, one that routinely delivers on its quality and vision commitments.
  18. Responsible for ongoing communication and transparency of the program vision and roadmap.
  19. Continuously develops and communicates the vision to the development teams and defines the features of the system.
  20. Supports the department overall for the professional development and oversight to ensure employee engagement and continual improvement within the team. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years in Product Management experience or related experience required
  • 2 years experience in Product Owner role or similar role preferred
  • 1-3 years leadership experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge or expreience with SAFe/Agile Methodology

Software / Tool Skills:

  • Rally Dev Intake and Mgmt Tool or similar
  • Figma Design Boards (to communicate with UX)
  • Office Suite
