About the role

BigHand is on an exciting journey to become a truly cloud‑native, AI‑enabled SaaS organisation. As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will sit at the heart of this transformation, helping to modernise our platforms while strengthening our cloud, operational and security capabilities.

You will work closely with engineers, architects and delivery leaders to design, operate and continuously improve our cloud platform, ensuring our SaaS services remain secure, scalable and highly available for customers worldwide.

What you’ll do

• Design, build and operate highly available SaaS platforms, supporting cloud migration, containerisation using Kubernetes and Docker, and modern PaaS and IaaS architectures.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automation tooling to standardise, secure and scale deployments.

• Partner with Product, Engineering and Architecture teams to deliver secure, cost‑effective cloud platforms aligned to business goals.

• Lead and support platform operations, including incident management, observability, patching, upgrades and continuous service improvement.

• Embed security and compliance best practices across the platform, including OWASP methodologies, ISO27001 and SOC2 controls.

• Contribute to ongoing innovation and operational excellence by improving processes, documentation and platform standards.

What we’re looking for

• Any cloud background, including Azure, AWS or GCP.

• Significant hands‑on experience (5+ years) in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure or Software Engineering roles.

• Expert scripting experience, ideally PowerShell, with Bash also considered.

• Strong experience with container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code approaches.

• A solid understanding of cloud security, secure development lifecycle practices, cryptography and vulnerability management.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and balance reliability, security, velocity and cost.
